Opportunities Come To Go

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

We all are given opportunities to express,
An appreciation and a gratefulness...
To whomever or whatever it is,
That has bestowed upon us...
This experience of life.
And breath to breathe.
Without seeing to appear visibly to say,
A knowing of why we choose to display...
A hatred, selfishness and a greed,
In a multitude of evil ways.

To then declare,
Christian beliefs.
Followers of Christ, the Son of God.
With Bibles held and scriptures quoted.
As if God is unaware,
Who the demons are to tolerate...
Their hypocrisy.

With an expectation this is okay.
In a variety of hypocritical ways.
Not to know or realize consciously,
When God decides enough is enough.
And has had it to prove,
Limits have been reached.

Forgiveness to receive?
Seems to have run out of gas.
Exhausting them,
Continously for the misdeeds we do.
Tough love appears.
Rising upon the horizon.

And...
Since God has been witnessed,
To work in the most mysterious of ways.
I wouldn't want to be the one,
To experience just how mysterious...
Those ways of God can be to deliver.
Especially when tempers can steam,
And boil over to blow one's top!

No one who consciously does misdeeds,
Should await a slapping on wrists.
Or scream from a hug so tight,
Every breath they breathe...
Is squeezed from their body.
Until painful judged by God.
To awaken somewhere,
A surviving soul does not recognize.

But hear they do,
This 'mysterious' voice say...
'Snap out of it.
Prepare for what's coming!
You have no idea,
What you have done to get on MY...
Hmmm...
How should I put this?
Bad side!
To make what I'm giving you deserve,
Eternally remembered!'

That, I am faithfully hoping,
Is not in my future to vision.
