Hug

"Does anyone really know
The merit in a hug?"
I ask myself this question
To only get a shrug

Being just too timid
To inquire a true reply
Conceding to my fear
By asking I'd deny

Dwelling on an answer
What others might express
I start to be so stymied
That I cause myself distress

Then as I lose ambition
To find out on my own
An assuaging voice of reason
Came forth to be well shown

Why yes I know the worth
Of your hugs that you present
They show us all your heart
That it's seen benevolent

Then after that's been told
I concede my mind and heart
That when a hug's seen needed
Postponement has depart

I thank you all so much
For having such belief
`Cause all I need to know
Is a big hug our relief
