They Said Time

They said time would heal all things,

Time heals,

But it doesn’t take the stains that mark the new clothes,

You can wear them,

But they’ll never really be new,

They said time would make you stronger,

But years don’t build strength,

It builds gray hairs,

It doesn’t change the fact,

That time doesn’t stop chasing its destination,

It doesn’t pause to make us feel better,

It races on with one thing in mind,

To change today,

And make it tomorrow,

They said time will make someone love you more,

Or bring back the love,

But if true love never really existed,

If it didn’t care from day one,

Then time won’t revive it,

It won’t walk with a bounce,

Nor bring you an ounce of pleasure,

It’s time is limited,

It parades like a peacock,

But will never represent love,

They said time would make me stop caring,

That the glimpse of your eyes,

Would not matter,

But time hasn’t changed the heart,

It beats rapidly when you’re around,

And every moment,

Every time I have with you is special,

It’s like being alone on an island,

With only you on my mind,

They said time will be around forever,

But my time with you is unknown,

The simple seconds we breathe are valuable,

And so I treasure them more than material things,

They weigh on me more than heavy metal bars,

I see the stars in your smile,

And the galaxy in your walk,

Time stands still when you spend it with only me..
