the light
There was once a girl. So full of life, so eager and curious. She was known as the center of the family, the bright light. But not only was she a bundle of joy. She had always had an ability to feel emotions deeply. Hers, yours, her family’s, her friends. She always just seemed to just understand. Being the light that she was, she offered aid any way she could. And so she gave. And gave. She gave them advice, comfort, a shoulder to cry on. They learned to thrush her, to confide in her, to depend on her like a crutch. Slowly over time, while still giving, she realized, “what if i have my own problems? Don’t my problems matter too? Who is there for me to lean on?” looking around in panic, she cried out for help. In return, all she found was a cold empty slap to the face. No soothing words, no warm embrace. And so over time, while still being the outside world’s crutch, still carrying the others’ burden, the light who had her own problems but had no one to help solve them eventually blinked out. And smiled as she finally found what she had been looking for all along.
