The Storm

She had consoled me
That t’was fine to be
Different, in my own way
And I waited for the light of day.

Slowly gathered the clouds of gloom,
And flashed its portent of doom.
As I ventured out of home,
Amidst storm, I found myself alone.

Rain blurred my eyes.
Deluge washed away lies.
Wind robbed my strength.
Sans illusions, I faint.

About this poem

The poem illustrates the conundrum of lies taught during childhood, yet the inevitable and harsh truth children come to face in the larger society when they grow up.
