Mother Steed and Water

MOTHER STEED WATER
Tom Sabel

Water bathing my feet
As it splashes me.
My steed looking straight
Only watches the sea.

Summer’s oven is on
But I still love it hot.
Painting red on my skin
Flames are all that it’s got.

I slowed my ride down
Just to give him some rest,
He knew it was time
After running his best.

I admired the sky
And we started again.
This time much slower
I got splashed now and then.

The crabs on the shore
Ran in startle and fear,
As we pranced near their army
Though we weren’t really near.

Seagulls were waiving
Just saying “Hello”
Today “Mother” has kissed me
More than you’ll ever know.

About this poem

I like this but sometimes I think it needs more length and metaphor.
