FROM REALITY TO DREAM AND BACK

Pamela Tennant 1960 (Littleton, Colorado)

I am feeling a bit worse than ever before
But I still feel so blessed by all my friends
Something in my body and mind's core
Isn't working right, not right at all, depends
I suppose on what my destiny is, and we can
Never know that, no, that's to be a mystery
My dreams combine the past to future scan
So dreaming I smile because in them I'm free.

I wish we could weave our reality with our dreams
Change the balance the theme, split the seams
Start over and redefine or reframe my thoughts
Work also on how I want to look, please no scoffs!

It would be so cool to go back to when I was healthy
And graduate in health and fitness, nutrition
To be what I wanted to be and helping others to be
It would be from heartfelt love and contrition!
I feel my body aging, dying all around me
My mind quite frankly freezes at times in suspicion
That memories and thoughts slow down... and...and....!

To dream rebirth, have a second chance
Take more time to live, love and dance
Oh and to celebrate each and every day
That life, that love, the dances and play!

Muddle on mind, muddle on, away with the fog
Give me back my focus, sharp and on point
Not this mental quicksand in Synapses Bog
Fly thoughts! Fly! Let's leave this here joint!
Let me whittle away at my reality and make it more
Health glowing and fitness balanced and fine
I want at least one year that won't be such a chore.
Where I can cruise the seven seas, wine and dine!

Hawaii, Greece, New Zealand
Of the ancients, druids, magic lore in "Meland"
Ireland, Scotland, home of the faeries
And the cliffs above the waves alive with Wherries!

Oh no you pain, you fear and anxity, off with you!
You do not belong in my dream, it is mine alone!
T'will be none such as you beasties of dark hue
I am the sewer of my dreams, it is everything I own.
The Sleep Master calls now, sweetly and low
My soul grows sleepy in it's light languid melody
Tomorrow once more I will wrestle anew I know
For now I will accept the gift of Heaven's Song to me.

About this poem

NOTE: Wherries are a beautiful swirling rainbow of mini dragons, created by the great Anne MacCaffrey in her Dragonriders of Pern series. Their eyes whirl with different colors depending on their moods. I grew up on the most delightful novels any girl ever had and the magic still stays with me even now, a 60 year old Jesus Freak. Have a good night everyone I sang this lullabye to help me doze off.

Pamela Tennant

Hello! My friends call me Pami, please do call me that. I am a truth-seeker, love keeper, soul dancing sextagenerian living on the edge. I am married, parent to one narcissitic but demanding furpurr and a humble poet. Words are my lifeline. The written word which is so confusing these days are the lyrics in the melody of life to which I dance. I hope to have many partners. Love on Love loud and proud, Love Strong! more…
