His Loss

Tabitha J. Bryson 1973 (Indianapolis, Indiana)

These tears I shed
      are mine alone
millions of tears
      without a home.
I cry from pain
      I do not understand
So many tears I've cried
      for this man.
I feel his love
      though it's my own
watered with tears
      it hasn't grown.
Never ever will I
      have his heart
this truth I knew
      right from the start.
Yet still I waited
      hoping someday
love would fill his heart
      and whisper of my name.
My tears continue to fall
      one by one
mourning a dream
      loss of a wanted love.
With love still in my heart
      and tears upon my face
I now admit defeat
      and bow out with grace.
