NIGHT TERROR STALKING

Terror stalks the night
In a village lost to fear,
People hiding locked inside
As death comes slinking near.

Fearful mewling echoing
Through the moonless sky,
Villagers are hidden deep indoors
Just praying to survive.

Frozen in their terror
No-one even dares to run,
As sloshing, slithering sounds
Signal evil being done.

Like a giant Humboldt fiend
With a thousand needle teeth,
Night terror stalks the village
Looking for a breach:

A breach to enter people’s homes
To rend and rip, and feed,
Devouring flesh and bone and blood
To sate unholy need.

Terror stalks a village
From dusk until daylight,
Keeping fearful villagers
Indoors throughout the night.

But unwary travellers
In the late-night may be stopping,
Hoping just to stay the night
Then slinking, sloshing, hopping.

In the morning villagers find
Red streets paven with gore,
But as for late-night travellers
They won’t be seen a’more.

A village lost to terror
People barely dare to breathe,
Though evil stalks the night-time
Few ever dare to leave.
