Listening To Learn

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Listening to learn,
Requires desire and discipline.
With an appetite to earn something taught.
Instead of pretending to know,
What one has not experienced.
But has the ability to convince,
Others...
Of their nonexistent achievements.

And the ones who feel no need to mention,
Their abilities and skills if not asked.
Seem often the ones,
Some pick to disrespect.
To assume them not worthy to receive,
Attention.
Especially from those pretentious,
Who present what they perceive...
Being successful should be to imitate it!
Dressed up to portray,
An image to masquerade.
As if everyday for them is Halloween!

Caught up in the fiction.
Yet not willing to pay attention and learn,
Life to live without deluding it...
Not only benefits the mind.
But also others who find themselves,
Arguing over lies told to them to defend!
