THROUGH THE PORTAL

Through the portal is uncounted dark
An endless void of deep space,
Night blackness upon night blackness
No light, or little, escapes.

Dark forces corrupt the universe
Existing inside the portal,
Dire howling is heard within
Then a slithering answers the call.

Dark riders beyond the portal
Intent upon fouling your dreams,
Or leading you into dour places
Where nothing is quite as it seems.

Screeching near shatters your eardrums
Then rustling like myriad wings,
As through the loathsome portal
Approaches most hideous things.

Creatures too awful to contemplate
Lurch through the ebon toward you,
Elephantine beings soar overhead
Way up above far out of your view.

A mewling like some monstrous feline
Rings out through the endless night,
As beings so dreadful to visualise
Hunt you from just out of sight.

Dark shadows fall all about you
Hinting of nightmares abounding,
Lovecraftean monsters squealing
As slowly they begin surrounding.

All hope seems lost through the portal
If only you knew your way back,
But slowly night terrors approach
Then quickly the horrors attack.

THE END
