Billie "Wild Bill"

I want to talk to Billie,
I want to see her face.
I have a need for comfort,
she who stood in my mothers place.

I can see her here so clearly,
the child's mind in my eye.
She took the role so firmly,
maybe never asking why.

I see her standing tall and firm,
before life took her shine.
What I wouldn't give,
to hug this sister mine.

She didn't have the tools one needs,
to wrangle such a crew.
I think she saw a life out there,
herself she must be true.

She always kept us gathered up,
and did her very best.
But as a child herself,
she had to jump the nest.

She spent her entire life searching,
for a place to call her own.
And in the end she found it,
a place called all alone.

The odds were stacked against her,
she couldn't win the race.
I know Lord you are holding her,
in your Amazing Grace.
