Decisions

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Some decisions,
Are more difficult than others to make.
Especially for the ones unaccustomed,
To take responsibility for their own actions.
Without opinions or suggestions,
Made from fast talking couch sitters.
Bragging about breath taking experiences,
To have had in a recent past.
More to exaggerate.
When and if the time to them is given.

And others familiar,
With mistakes to have made to correct them.
On paths alone and away from planted fears.
Learning not to accept,
A following behind someone else's footsteps.
Not to witness them appear anywhere near.
Will be less inclined to leave behind,
A peace of mind to find.

With a decision to take chances.
And,
After several decades found to get it.
For the purpose not to please anyone,
Still confused about what they should do.
Refusing to choose,
A move that could make them happier.
And this shown to make known,
May or may not upset someone else.
Who suggested another direction to take.
Yet that direction to take and recommend,
Suggestion makers can not do for themselves.

Remaining afraid of obstacles they may face.
Although will claim,
On a daily basis they pray with kept faith!
To remain and stay within a comfort zone.
Demeaning with accusations made,
About those who have taken steps...
Refusing good advice to them given.
Relying on luck and nothing else.
But prayer.
As if to pray,
Has anything to do with chasing fears away.

'Some folks just don't know,
How and when to take good advice.
Baby?
Honey, are you still in the kitchen?
I would like some popcorn and a cold beer.'

'And I would like to see you,
Up and off that couch one day.
To prove to me miracles exists!
