to my almost lover

my sincerest apologies.
i swear i never meant
to break your heart.

i really tried to love you,
but love just isn’t something
you can force to happen.

i wish you all the best on earth
and may you someday find someone great
who will make you happier than me.

About this poem

I wrote this about two years ago, when a guy confessed his feelings for me and I didn't reciprocate. I still feel sorry for what happened.
