Overrun

Columbus discovered the tribe
missions and churches Christianity describe
faith in overrun villages sad
humanity failed drunken depressed and mad
natural science balanced generations swelling
singular residents cone shaped dwelling
brought about by ages by different stages
carried their young, pipe filled lung
mixture tribes warring territory
civilized chief like glory
bows and arrows powder and lead
no match against bullets machine-gun fed
Indians knowing not to own the land
migrating war drums pounding hand
whether or not to become
eye to eye chief tribe done
clothing of leather head-dress of feather
beds of love spirits from above
white-mans expedition finding new space
as a citizen you should feel some disgrace
