Shining pearl of death

It’s the shiny jewel beckoning
In rays of radiant cold embrace
It lies behind you waiting
When the light at the end of the tunnel
Runs out

In the blinding afterglow of light
In the gloom of the dark tunnel
The cold dazzle of the pearl
Lures you into the nether end of
The tunnel

When all your energy is spent
All your hopes dashed
You run out of fortune
To keep the light at the end of
The tunnel

When that moment comes
We instinctively remember
That there is another way out
In the nether end of the tunnel

But if you thought it hard going forward
Try going backwards into the gloom
Fumbling backwards in the dashing despair
When the light at the end of the tunnel
Goes dark

Giving up all you ever hoped for is hard
Even when there is absolutely no hope
Blowing off the flicker of life in your soul
Is no stuff for the fainthearted

Death happens so much every day
That we think it easy
But try to deliberately grasp it
And understand why suicides are
The most courageous people
