Mom and Dad

My birth mother gave me life and
loved me enough to give me up,
but she could never be my Mom.
My birth father was there for my
conception, but that does not make him
my Dad.

You took care of me when I was sick,
you praised me when I did good.
You were there when I needed you.
You took a shy and lonely child
and showed me that someone cared.

You showed me that I didn’t have to be
perfect, just me.
I was taught that I could be anything
as long as I just tried.
You gave me discipline, care,
BUT most importantly LOVE.

You have made me what I am today,
not because you had to or because
it was your job, but out of love.
It is for that, I love you.
You are truly my Mom and Dad, and no
other can take your place.
