Darkness

Y, Christine Drew 1968 (Maryland)

Looking through my eyes
the world is a very dark place
I can barely see my hands
in front of my face.
At one point
there was a ray of light.
But before I knew what hit me
the light turned to night.
Darkness seems to last so long
I wonder if there will ever
be light again.

I'm gone.
