Gambling on Love

Sometimes breakin’ even
 is just like getting’ ahead.
You start the day
in the same old way
and end up back in bed.

If you lose the heart for gamblin’
and don’t even place a bet.
You’ll face the sun
till the day is done
and live on the blood you sweat.

You said you couldn’t now;
this wasn’t the time or place.
I said I’d wait forever,
cause maybe is better than never,
and a Queen never beats an Ace.

I long for the days before…
before you knew you had a crown
when love was hot
and tempers were not
when moans were the only sound.

It’s not that my life is bad,
just not what I  expected,
but maybe the blame
is not with the game,
but with something I never suspected.

Could it be that cards tell the truth
and the game is the only thing,
that in the end
it’s all about Zen;
every Jack thinks he’s a King.
