CITY OF CRYSTAL

City of crystal
Transparent Buildings,
Housing crystal furnishings.

Crystal statues stand
In almost all rooms,
Or are they sleeping people?

Outside crystal beasts
Statues or sleeping creatures?
Difficult to tell.

In the city stand
Crystalline towers that sing,
As the wind passes.

Beyond the city
A crystalline forest,
Home to the animals?

Strange high-pitched squeals
Emanate from the forest,
Perhaps the crystal beasts?

Did a statue move slightly?
Are they waking up,
Crystalline people?

Did an animal
Move ever so little outside,
As daybreak comes?

As the 'people' rouse
You hastily retreat,
Wary of the beings.

As you step outside
The crystal animals stir,
You run to the trees.

Unknowing what waits
In the crystal forest,
Death or sanctuary?
