Abiding Time

Abiding the minutes that turn into days
Seconds of hours that won’t go away
Time standing still as I start to climb
Reliving the pain, time after time

Endless the hours of every new day
Passing through hell—fading away
Drowning in sorrow without any tears
Life without meaning, driven by fears

Darkness prevails at the end of the day
Words aren’t spoken--there’s nothing to say
Picking up bread crumbs, we follow the trail
Without any bearings, we’re destined to fail

The compass is broken, it’s needles are dry
So lost in emotion, with no tears to cry
A life without purpose, promise or faith
Words have no meaning on a blank page

Tell me a story and how does it end?
I’ve written its pages again and again
The tip is worn and the ink has run dry
I’m all out of words, with nothing to write

Wake up the world, its chorus will swell
Writing a story that no one can tell
Its pages are empty, filled with lies
Time for an ending before everyone dies
