Breathe

Kira McAndrew(Shoemaker) 1986 (Savannah, Georgia)

The breath that inhales air
takes the life, unfair
it swallows whole the un-dead
puts them to bed
taking away their' pain
and agony gain
which blinds the weak
that takes a bleak
shimmer of faith untold
the lights blinding from gold
that makes us see
pain throughout the glee
we do not share
only taking time to spare
the gifts of love
then releasing a dove
that gives us hope galore
to breathe once more
