The Crucible
William Goresko 1951 (Philadelphia, PA) – 2008 (Willow Grove, PA)
Out of this fiery crucible,
After great toil and struggle,
I have pulled a smoldering mass.
Never far from reach,
It sears my outstretched hands,
Blinding me with its brilliance,
Leaving me with a new and
Different vision. Repelling those
Who cannot bear its heat,
I watch alone, as if in a dream,
While it slowly forms, a glowing orb
That none but I dare approach.
Like a moth, I am slowly drawn toward it
To be consumed and transformed
In the flow of its radiant beauty.
