GUINEVERE'S REVENGE

JP. 1948 (United Kingdom)

GUINEVERE'S REVENGE

If I begin to love you as you wander through my mind
Would you return to love me too whilst this I try to find
If I should love you far too much will you think less of me?
So set to fall without loves crutch and never to be free
Or if to sleep and maybe dream shall I see your wispy form
And to remember what you mean to me alone I face the dawn
Yet if I cease to fill my head with work to occupy
Prevent my thoughts of you instead as you silently slip by
Or if I ask that you should wait whilst I adjust my thought
Will you say no, you are too late this love from ardour's wrought?
Shall I hear your voice on any day there is a gentle breeze?
As you wipe me from your memory your peace of mind to ease
Will I hear your presence in a tune that to us once belonged?
Or cleanse my bloodstain from your dress to know I was wrong
Will I smell your perfume on the air on any summer’s day?
And think of you by shinning light as you pass upon your way
To live the darkness of black sun and try to understand
Why could I never give enough to ever win your hand?
Can I brook your loss my Guinevere and close that final door?
Yet still remain not insincere to love you evermore.
