As The Ball Falls

A new beginning, a fresh start
A time to heal the broken heart.

The  world awaited the ball to fall,
With an undying urgency felt by all.

As you write your resolutions,
Remember some are mere solutions

To a past year of sorrows and fears,
While others have been festering for years

Like losing weight and getting wealthier,
While others just want to be healthier.

But for many of us change is real,
As our county and world try to heal

From an invisible, devastating illness
That left so many helpless

And took  so many lives
Forcing others to barely survive.

For the front liners compensation never came,
But we bravely carried on all the same

At last a vaccine offers a slim glimmer of hope
To the vast majority still trying to cope.

As 2020 came to an end,
Our grieving world we need to mend

This year 2021 we need to pause and  look aside
To answers only our dear Lord can provide
