It tears into the coldest of hearts.
It brings out the caring in all of us.
It renders us all tender.
It brings our sympathy on the fore!
It is an angel’s cry!
It is a helpless cry!
It harkens the busy and the free!
It brings a pose even to a worker bee!
It begs of our presence.
It cries for closer attention.
It asks to be held in dear hands.
To be rocked in gentle arms.
It takes a mother’s attention.
It makes a mother warm.
It harkens the motherly in her.
It makes the mother in woman!
The wail of a child!
