My Precious Little Dove

Tears fall from the eyes of my angel,
and I gently wipe them away.
She tells me not to go,
but I tell her I cannot stay.
The time has come for me to leave
And be a responsible man.
She tells me to “Be careful.”
I tell her, I’ll do the best I can.”
As much as I don’t want to
I know I’ve got to go.
When I will return,
I honestly do not know.
I give her my last kiss goodbye
And tell her, “I love you.”
She looks me in the eye and says, “I love you too.”
I can not stand it anymore,
I now begin to cry.
The pain I feel within me is twisting into knots,
And I understand why.
It’s because I’ll miss my baby.
My one and only true love.
She’s so sweet and innocent.
My precious little dove.
