Life Now

My ears are tired of masks
My eyes are tired of screens
It did not used to be such a task
But now I just want to scream

I used to see smiles
I also saw frowns
now I only see files
of eyes on the ground

No I can't see your cheerful
I can't see your hurt
But I sense your fearful
I feel your alert

I wish you knew
I see the tense on your brow
I feel it too
but this is life now

Sleeping is harder too
From the doing nothing
I want to go out
Just to do something

I can’t see my friends
I’m cooped up at home
When will this end
I feel so alone

No one knew this would happen
We knew nothing
As our world starts to flatten
I wish we knew something

So many things
I thought life would never allow
Something to cling to
But this is life now

I miss the things
That I took for granted
The stuff that life brings
That we all demanded

The earth, the air
The stars up above
I want to share
To feel, to love

When this all first started
We were not the same
We have gone, parted
From before this became

You know you can’t change it
Go ahead and scowl
But you have so many blessings
In this life now

I know so much more
About the life that you planted
Let us leave this war
Of taking for granted

Food, water, money
a roof over your head,
The whole big vast sea
Your soft cozy bed

You are amazing
In your own way
And I can see it
Every day

You are here for a reason
Though you ask how
You are meant to be here
In this life now

The reason you are here
May be unknown
Though unclear
Follow the light you were shown

All different places
All different ages
All different races
Still the same pages

In the book that was written
The only one true
Though might be hidden
The story of you

Life might be hard
But still make the vow
To always live
Right in this life now

To live to laugh
to live a full life
And on behalf
Of those in strife

I beg of you
To please allow
Us to be free
In this life we live now

We toil all day
With little reward
Let us reach
The goal we look towards

And say I will be bright
The one to work and plow
To sow the light
Right in this life now
