Christmas Can Wait

The tree top glistening through the house
Everyone's quiet as a mouse
Hey that present has my name
But I can't touch it, what a shame

I shake a gift to hear a sound
While Mom and Dad are not around
I look to make sure daddy can't see
And put the present back under the tree

Here's one gift to open, oh, this is great!
Not time for the rest yet, Christmas can wait
Hey, Mimi, Papa, these have your name
But it's not time yet, oh what a shame!

A couple of hours before we start
I can hardly wait for that part
Another pass around the tree
How much longer before we see

Has Santa made our wish come true
Throughout the year how did we do
Did naughty or nice seal our fate
Do I really want to know?  Christmas can wait.
