The price of freedom

The price of freedom

The price of freedom, you had to pay
With your retina, you saw the horrors of war
What crept through your ears,
Is what no man could hear
All my fears, you bravely conquered
Apathetically enduring, excruciating pain
Pride and patriotism, is what you feel
Tinged with betrayal and a fear to trust again
Your body is trained to be fit
But your heart?
Ripped of emotion, deprived of true love
And a sense of appreciation,
From those you fight for
But today, I salute you
A true warrior, clothed by loyalty
Integrity is your epitome
“FIGHT ON!” is your motto
And the symbol of undefined courage.
