Analysis of The Gambler

Casey Sean Martin 1987 (Philadelphia)

Every autumn the trees change
Yet every fall brings the same pain
Always a new quest for gain
Further pushes
To no more be sane
We always roll the dice
Like it’s a table game
Waiting for our number
Meanwhile we plunder
This gambler is
Close to falling under
Yet
I heard from someone wise
A gambler doesn’t seek the prize
Rather they just want to feel alive
To win or lose is the same
In their eyes
They know
Every new thrill
Can further kill
Yet
Every new chance
Brings to them
A new dance
Whereas most would
Run and hide
But the to you or I
It’s just a new ride
As we pass the tide
Trying to survive.
