Analysis of Unapologetically Me

Elysia Laidlaw 2000 (Birmingham)

I am me.

Bursting with melanin
Proud to be who I am.
But there is no difference between you and I
No matter what society tells us.
The colour of our skin
Should never define who we are,
Because underneath this skin,
I am you.
You are me.

But you won’t see beyond my exterior,
You’ll just see the colour of my skin.
And oppress me .
But I am unapologetically me.

But I’m more than just me,
I am a human being.
Like You.
I have the same purpose in life,
As you.

But you wont see that,
You’ll just see my skin.
You won’t see me for who I am.
Intelligent being..
I have goals and ambitions.
I HAVE A  DREAM.
But you won’t see that.
