Analysis of I Will Cross That Bridge When I Come to It
Melita Catalina Warren 1949 (Kansas)
As I walk through life without a mate
Regal roses so great never bloom late,
And Jesus welcomes one at heaven’s gate,
Provided one loves and does not hate.
God’s claim on my life let nobody berate.
My earthly shortcomings kindly abate
I work hard, pay my bills, and still never rate.
Burial in rags could be my unfortunate fate.
Maybe in heaven I will merit a clean slate,
A romantic rendezvous or traditional date.
O.K.….Oh well…I will never be great.
But I will not mind if heaven just waits!
Who will know me lying in that pine crate?
Just get me to the church on time not late!
