Analysis of With Knowledge at Your Feet

One would think
that you’d have learned.
The past has already received
its judgment, the flames from the sky
clear in their solemn message.
Blatant guidance has been pressed
against your feet, even so
you choose ignorance
where the ancients would have chosen
to carry the burden of knowledge.

One would wonder
why your straying, wandering eyes
glanced back onto the dead.
The time has been lost
and cannot be revived for fear
of catastrophe,
but your mind has followed
the example of Lot’s dear wife
and has kicked up those salty ashes
as you claim willful opposition.
