Analysis of THE BOARDWALK (Poem #4)
On the Boardwalk at the beach there is always so much fun.
You can ride a bike or in a surrey or walk in the sun.
A bike ride on the Boardwalk in the early morn
Leads up to a shop with fresh-made donuts so warm.
We must leave with our bikes now the guards say.
It's time for the beach to begin its day.
Running and laughing with sand between our toes.
It's under the Boardwalk we all hurry to go.
A chair, an umbrella, blanket, bucket and shovel,
Our arms are so full that we almost stumble.
Waves they are roaring, oh the sound of the surf.
The sun is so warm, oh bless Mother earth.
An afternoon of enjoying the surf and the sun,
We are cooking hot and just about done.
Our stomachs are grumbling too much for a snack,
So a shower and it's off to dinner just like that.
Back to the Boardwalk as it soon becomes dusk.
To join in the nighttime fun is surely a must.
The lights come on and the games all begin.
Soon we're tired of walking and have to give in.
As we rest in a chair and watch the passersby,
As numerous and interesting as the stars in the sky,
We remember the events of a wonderful day;
Of the Boardwalk, the beach, the fun and the play.
