Analysis of Take Back
Julie Reed 10-8-10
I can't take back the harsh words I've spoken,
The ugly words that cut and pulled you open.
I can't take back how the words were said,
The words that hit you and made you sad.
I can't take back the way you've were raised,
If I had my way, you'd only be praised.
I can't take back the way we've fought,
I know that your devotion can not be bought.
I can't take back where in your life you stand,
I can't take back the fact we're not longer in band.
I can't take back the fact that we're not together,
But if we were, you'd want it to last forever.
I can't take back the words I've spoken,
I wish I can say that you'll never be broken.
I can't take back the problems I've caused,
Wishing that life could shortly be paused.
I can't take back the pains that I've made,
I can tell you that those debts have been paid.
I can't take back the words that I've spoken,
And writing you this poem is my only token.
I can't take back the memories we've made,
Nothing is sharper in my mind, not even a blade.
I can't take back the horrible words that I've spoken,
Praying that you forgive me before I'm completely broken.
