 (poem for samiya)

"procurer moi une tente bédouine"
s'écria samiya
tandis que j'ai passé en revue ses peintures abstraites;
des bébés à Beyrouth et à Sakhnin

parce que ses douleurs étaient un drap de lit
et le plaisir de la poésie
j'écris pour samiya: ses fragments brisés ...
sculpté dans les bâtiments

o! clair de lune, o! adorateurs de la lumière
poésie pour le calme
o! lit de cactus, de la poésie pour votre désir
et un poème pour votre calme!

dans l'épaisseur de la tombée de la nuit
dévoilé le mystère de l'être
une goutte d'huile,
au cœur de la plaine ...

 (poem for samiya)

"procure me a bedouin tent",
 exclaimed samiya
 while i reviewed her abstract paintings;
 of babies in beirut and sakhnin.

because her sorrows was a bedsheet
 and some poetry's delight
 i write for samiya:  her broken fragments...
 carved within buildings

o! moonlight, o! worshipers of the light
 poetry for your calm
 o! bed of cactus, poetry for your longing
 and a poem for your calm!

in the thick of dusk
 unveild the mystery of being
 a drop of oil, to the heart of the plain...

 and woven goat hair. The tents are very well adapted
 to desert life and can be packed up and ready to be moved within ...

poem is part metaphor, part political and sacrosanct allegory,
    part imagination of the author salted with the power of art .
