Analysis of Oblivion

Chaser of elusive dreams
that come between darkness and dawn
She nestles like a bird in a feathered nest.

Sleep brings rest
from the weary light of day
Darkness beckons,
Alarm clock is stayed.

While chasing dreams
on the undulant edge of awake,
she feels his warmth beside her,
his heavy arm draped across her chest.

She snuggles her bottom against him,
feels his breath on her neck -
Contented sigh escapes.

Sleep returns her
to a time when his place in bed was not empty
Her dreams filled with images of laughter, love
Togetherness

But always on the periphery,
she senses a nightmare intruding - daytime.
Eyes shut tight,
She sleeps.
