Analysis of My Land
Stephanie Angela John-Anthony 1960 (Sangre Grande)
I waved a weary outstretched hand
Towards my picturesque green land
This is the place where I must roam
To cultivate and make my home
Amongst the balata and mango trees
Humming birds waft in the breeze
The crystal clear meandering stream
On its banks I often day dream
Private property I declare
Its not that I don't want to share
The thoroughfare would do no good
To soil thats tilled for planting food
Its harvest time lets celebrate
Then I open wide my gate
Welcome neighbours one and all
Feast, be merry have a ball.
