Analysis of For an Unmet Friend
Laughter and light,
Love and trust ~
Dark pain and brooding thoughts
when betrayal walks the night.
Glittering demons of disgust
shriek despair and sorrow,
raising their withered hands
to grasp our feet as we struggle past.
Silent corners of our lives beckon:
Stay quiet, stay here, say nothing,
and the pain will pass;
We will cover our heads in mourning.
Yet as we crouch in this silent place,
This darkened room of memory,
A small kindness reaches out
to re-awaken joy.
