Analysis of Escaping Vapour

Been Chasing Patterns on the breeze
My words are hanging from the trees
A capsule turning in a rhyme
Escaping vapour lost in time
I turned the lock then lost the key
Ill search the earth, the sky the sea
Ride the rhythm, feel the beat
The words are hidden underneath

Echoes bound between the ears
I swam ashore in my own tears
Revolving cloud remains in range
Cascading into maintain range
Encased within the walls of clay
The fears and doubts wont go away
All shapes and textures stay the same
The clearing mist reveals the shame

Dave Ratcliffe

Some of my imagery may seem a little on the dark side at times but I feel the pain of the chastened and broken among my close family and friends. I write from the heart to express my innermost thoughts through song lyrics and poetry. I try always, ‘to be true to my philosophy of understanding tolerance, to share my perceptions and desires with integrity’. I have just finished my first play which was both a challenging and rewarding experience, which I intend to follow up on. I enjoy reading poetry from all over the world. Poetry.com is a great platform for me to network with other like-minded people and showcase my own work for others to be moved and inspired. After all this is the duty of a poet…I have just had my first poetry book published with the Title Scratching the Page and my thanks go to Michael Dobson for producing it and to all those who read it more…
