Analysis of Endangered
Endangered - for one reason or another,
all inter-connected with human footprint.
The treasures we let slip through our grip
for the taste of pleasure on seconds sigh.
Hunted for skin and bone - all they own,
all they have - the greedy spit on morals
as cash signs spin the wheel of fortune.
The do-gooders smile and softly say
Let’s fix the plight of the pretty.
Cuteness shouldn’t be a factor
when saving a dying species,
BUT
IT
IS!
Who wants a treasured stuffed toy
of an ugly frog or scary bat,
they slip to the back of the queue.
Raising awareness of the beautiful
generates cash and interest
BUT…
the most urgent should be first!
before they slip away quietly
and people say - we never knew
till the borrowed time ran out.
Diversity of life and habitats
ruined, for the sake of a shilling.
The number of endangered species
Known - Is ten times higher than…
“The protected!”
Invaluable and irreplaceable,
preservation must prevail.
Cures are evaporation
without all Human Kind’s consent.
There are plants that hold cures
for illnesses
yet-to-be-discovered,
that will sing their encore
and slip silently by
in an angels whisper.
Intense de-forestation,
we are killing our nation
with this slow growing realization.
I am afraid will shine, a shade too late
to save the hopes that live in time.
Time is a gift they strive for,
to re-spawn and multiply.
Patterned cats fight for the chance to live,
mating with kin because…
their freedom is choked and limited
and instinct over-rides the basics.
Born weak - survival even harder
as the concentrated helix gene pool
contaminates its last chance of hope.
Humanity should weep in disgust
then VOW to make amends!
For god’s sake please - let them live
DO SOMETHING NOW
