Analysis of Dusty Road To Dreams

Early morning before the sun is awake we sleepily with high anticipation prepare

Faded camo, favorite hole filled fishing shirt, Irish Setter snakes boots zipped and snapped with care

Load up the Ford we move through the fog to the base of stories, beloved hunting camp

Stacked sacks, nuggets of gold, handlers bottled water; Polaris excitedly waits on a lowered ramp

Traveling down the dusty road of dreams, curves that turn never knowing what treasure we might find

Turkey season waits in dreams of late March, drumming, calling gobblers, purring at our minds

Weaving through the timber past the towering pines, care-takers of this sacred ground

Silence broken in step of twigs echo’s of two legged intruders the creatures alarm warning sound

Topping the crest of a hills view that cuddles Kendall Creek walled with Georgia red clay

Scouting our course of the decline in hopes of keeping footing and dignity in tack today

Slipping and gripping on Mother Nature’s vines so elegantly placed as ropes for the clumsy to grasp

Laughter of safety births from our hearts, we made it without skinned kness to the bottom as last

Stones smooth, some are textured, some with a mossy coat hunkered down in early Spring's cool water

Each inviting sole of high topped boots pick me, pick me, I promise I won’t let you falter

Crystals of sand reflecting sparkles from the sun in harmony with the grace of creek’s flow

Here all questions of God are answered, a path close to heaven, He’s here with us, this we both know

Keen eye’s searching for signs, and smells an intruder that came unwelcomed on these precious borders

The code of respect to God’s creatures, and a man's hunting lease is one honored by true hunters

The sweet feel of His breath is the day’s breeze pushes away the rising engulfment moment of anger

Be still my child in where you are, don’t make their mistake make you and your ways of blessings be altered

Shyly I look to his presence and smile, forgive me for I know what you speak to me is the truth

I thank you Lord for the blessing of the hunt where I find you always returns me to my humble youth

Maylinda Jane McRae

I haved live in Georgia all my life. I have four beautiful children and five grandchildren,an amazing man in my life named Scott. God has also blessed me with many loving family members and friends. God has blessed me in so many ways and I want to share with others how amazing he is and the grace that he wants to bestow on others. I have been writing since I was a little girl, it has always helped me to express myself whether it was during a storm or a victory in my life. My prayer is that my poems will help someone who may be going through a storm or celebrate a vicotry in life. more…
