Analysis of Corruption of the Modern Fairytale

Complaining within walls,
all of us just sit,
everywhere the economy falls,
society, what happened to it?

We always want more and more,
just materialistic things,
haunting us right to the core,
like broken hearts and summer flings.

Unnoticed goes a neighbor’s pain,
friends are all but forgotten,
our thoughtless minds forever strain,
but unfortunately, it’s rotten.

I can assert,
the hardest of feats,
like a savored dessert,
is life, the sweetest of treats.

Babies are born,
flowers burst in bloom,
soft breeze the birds adorn,
and the sun banishes the gloom.

Sadness left in the dust,
children run without a care,
strangers we learn to trust,
laughter rings through the air.

How do you perceive the world?
Light and dark, dark and light,
is it pristine and pearled,
or not worth the fight?

To you I must say,
that it is both intertwined,
here and there, great and okay,
forces of nature that will never unbind.

Take the side that makes you glad,
it’s all about the outlook you construe,
bad and the good, good and the bad,
everyone, everyday is confronted with the two.
