Analysis of Christmas Memories

Going to Grandma's house on Christmas morn',
The tree lit up and strung with corn,
Enjoying it all, at her house in the "holler,"
Back when you could buy a gift for a dollar.

My first Christmas at an air base out west,
Going home with a friend, I felt blessed,
Leaving the base for Colorado, being aglow,
Spending Christmas there amid love and snow.

Opening gifts, feeling like I was in Heaven,
With my lovely young bride, in the year '67,
And 34 years later, living across the globe,
I still cherish her gift of a corduroy robe.

Homemade toys as a child, made by my dad,
Made me so happy and pridefully glad,
Homebaked goodies, made with motherly care,
That sweetened, like magic, that holiday air!

Now, I could go on with memories galore,
Of my happy days of Christmas time lore,
But, I will stop now and say this to you,
Merry Christmas to all, with memories anew!
