(A Message from Sinai to the Nile)

Written by :
Dr. Sabber Abd-Aldayem
Translated by :
Hassan Hegazy Hassan (Egypt)
****
Allah, the Creator, the Merciful, the Almighty, says :
"We have created for you gardens of date- palms and grapes, from them you have a lot of fruit
to eat.
" "And a tree is springing out of Mount Sinai that growth with oil and relish for the eater
(Al-believers 19.20)

*****
After the time of the alienation
I come back carrying all my years' longing
For you

Calling you
And you are in my heart
the starting of hopes,
, bright wishes the
And you are in my horizon, in my life,
The shade of time,
And you are the uprising of my soul
And my self is a sun,
Shining on your beaches.

Calling you
Knowing I have assimilated my light
from your eyes.
I know that you were not despicable any day
And your sword was not humiliated
And your waves did not become a poison,
All dates have matured on your forearms

Calling you
And I love in your steps the pride
All ships are running towards you
And all the lighthouses are in your eyes
And all the longing of the deserts for watering
Is on your wideness
Waiting for order
And all gardens are the daughters
of your hands
---
Calling you
In spite of all those who had invaded you
You, The Nile, keep your runway since
the burst of time,
And mocking at the antagonists and strength
And cultivating your shade in every garden
And peace prevails
And your hands are planting in every field
Fondness will spreads

Calling you
And you are flying over those
who attacked you
Do they, by fires and malice, dry you?
Or by boasted sieges, they tied you up?
And with the bullets of betray do they kill you?

Calling you
And as you were leading to the right
Who disbelieved you,
And you as you were racing who competed with you!
And you as you were kind to all who fought you
And watering your goodwill and compassion
to all who deserted you

Calling you, and
From the bottom of your valley,
Nile …
…..the infatuated of watchfulness rushed like winds
And destroyed fear on the boldness of the nest
To restore the morning for me,
And you were a stream for their vein and
they were the sweetest scarf for your neck,
Your banks drank much of your blood
And their age was the fruitfulness of the struggle

Calling you
You loved me,
Filled me with lightness,
I tasted dimness
And you irrigated me with Prejudice
Tasted fadedness and faintness
You rewarded me with faithfulness
I have got your acceptance
And in the season of the fruitful return
The embrace of horses shines over us
And in our meeting,
the elements of the pride 's seasons are held

Calling you
And in the revolution the of the waves,
the lightning of question is flashing
In the season of fruitfulness
Do I become a store for sand?
In the wedding ceremony,
Do the rocks sweep the scent of shade?
And Sinai that grows with oil,
beauty flourishes on her land.

Calling you
And kiss on your palms the gardens that vegetate
the determination of men,
And kissing
in your eyes the dawn of challenge
Tearing the night of the impossible
And kissing
on your trusted footing
the highness of men,
Sinai that grows with oil,
and beauty flourishes,
dancing on her sacred land.
