Analysis of Freedom Of Speech

This contradictive freedom is often breached,
through disagreements found in free speech.
Offence is not universal but subjective,
variations prevent this freedoms objective.

You will hear opinions that leave you offended,
because not everything in life is that splendid.
Peoples points of view may vary from yours,
so when they do embrace the freedom to ignore.

To not ignore is a freedom to ignore violation,
to then target an individual is called discrimination.
Not because they hurt you or inflicted damage,
but because the adult in you wasn't managed.

Sticks and stones break bones but words will never hurt,
this is taught to kids but often adults fail to make the effort.
So it's do as we say and not as we do and,
we don't seem to care that we take this stand.

Often adults act childish as those with opposing views speak,
with a weak grasp on being adult adults let emotions leak.
If only we could listen to our own words to kids we would tweak
our own self control and be like the children we forcefully teach.

Freedom Of Speech is just a phrase,
so don't forget the Freedom To Ignore,
because if you are able to stop the rage,
then you my friend will be an adult once more.
