Analysis of Ever Green

One girl had shown to me,
that when the heart is honest,
a body can never lie.

In my insensibility, my
heart deserted me.

I had lost my voice
and her sound left no signal to follow.
I was hushed by shame in mother nature.

Though I longed for an ageless affair,
This girl left me lovelorn, because
she needed a suitor, not only a lover;
fleeing further past leaving my life forever.

Peace be granted my heart was divided.
Had I loved her for her generous vitality,
as much as she loved me,
We'd still be gathering and pressing the leaves from the woods.

Quiet in my hallow,
guided by heartbreak,
I learned and understood.

A body is a falling leaf;
true love is ever green.
