Analysis of Sang til Thorvaldsens sidste fødselsdag

Hans Christian Andersen 1805 (Odense) – 1875 (Copenhagen)

En lille Sang, — o hør dog den!
Thi nu er vi saa glade!
Det ere vi for Thorvaldsen,
Og saa for — Chokolade.
    Hæver nu Stemmen,
    At han kan fornem'en!
    Som paa Svanevinge
    Den klinge!

Alverden sang om hans Genie,
Det har han hørt saa ofte,
Thi vi vil gjøre Narreri,
Men i anstændig Kofte!
    Klinke med Koppen,
    Synge os rød i Toppen,
    Dersom det kan more
    Den Store!

Før Visen bliver altfor mat
Vi standse vil vor Lire,
Gid Skjæbnen aldrig slaae en Klat
Paa Thorvaldsens Papire!
    Dandse og trampe,
    Saa vi alle dampe,
    Thorvaldsen skal leve
    Den Giæve!
