Analysis of Mother, Teacher, Hero
Jesse Pomponio 1988 (Boston)
What is there to say about a mother
If you need support there is no other
When if your cold she’ll tuck your covers
And If your lonely she’ll be your brother
What would life be without my mom?
Definitely a lot more troublesome
Without her there to bail me out
and help me learn what life is all about
Who knows where I’d end up or what I’d achieve Nothing compared to what my mom made me believe
For she has fostered my high self esteem
And kept me clothed and warm and clean
Took time and Taught me how to swim in a little stream
Mom has made my life magical and blessed
I’ll tell you what…my mom is the best.
How can I show appreciation to my ma
It was hard to raise me without a pa
She did it well without a problem
If I had troubles she would solve them
Taking both the roll of the woman and man
An impossible task, I don’t know if anyone can
But if someone succeeded you’d be the one
For a stronger person there is no one
With life experiences and knowledge and grace
My mom has raised a man and sent him to race Although snags came up and troubles abound
I could always rely on my mom is what I have found

About this poem
I wrote this poem to my mom on Mothers Day. Some of it is personal to me, but I believe a lot of it can be generalized to many people’s experiences with their mothers.
